SMEs with Health and Social Care Technologies – We Want You!

Two weeks ago CW (Cambridge Wireless) was fortunate enough to be one of only four successful bidders to be selected as a local partner in the national IoTUK Boost Programme. The Programme, powered by the Government-funded Digital and Future Cities Catapults, aims to identify SMEs throughout the UK and connect them with challenge owners to solve tangible business problems.

Health IoTCW’s activities are covering the South of England. We feel our ties to the Cambridge tech cluster, Tech City and Silicon South West in particular put us in a strong position to bring together some of the most exciting SMEs in the region. The key question was…what area were our activities going to focus on? It was a tough decision. IoT technologies are fast becoming pervasive across all industries and there are few that haven’t benefited as a result. We wanted something to empower citizens. Health and social care seemed the natural choice.

Still this is a broad category so let’s break down exactly what it is we are after. Firstly we want ideas, products or services that are fresh and original. They can cover anything related to assisted living, managing and monitoring long term conditions, telehealth and telecare. They might be indoor solutions for use in hospitals and the connected home or on the move solutions for smart cities, smart transport, environmental monitoring or location tracking.

Up to 20 successful applicants will be selected to take part in 2 one day workshops, the latter of which will essentially be a ‘pop up accelerator’ where SMEs will pitch their business propositions to problem owners and experts receiving specialist guidance and practical advice to assist in the acceleration of their product or service. After the workshops up to 4 of the SMEs will be shortlisted to receive a month of further incubation support.

If you are an SME developing technologies that match this description then we want to hear from you. Take a look at the website for more details and apply here. The Deadline for applications is on the 11th January. Don’t miss out!
